Blogging for money .. What are the rules for what I blog?

I wanted to start a blog of things I find interesting. That this either in magazines or online websites. Are there things the copyright passes so I just copied and pasted items, leaving a link or to say I got it from this book or a magazine? I do not want to break the law and prosecuted.
